Daylie 한국어

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 27, 2026

Daylie is an app that lets a family know how their parent's day went, through the photos the parent takes. This policy explains, in plain words, what information Daylie receives, what it is used for, and when it is deleted.

In short, the only people who see the photos and where they were taken are the connected family. We do not hand the information to anyone other than the service providers we need in order to run the service (Section 5), we do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it to other companies.

1. How the service is put together

Daylie works as a pair of two sides.

When the parent's phone is being linked, the app asks the parent once, "Shall we show your family how your day went?" Photos are sent to the family only after the parent taps to agree.

2. Personal information we collect

Item When it is created
Account information — name, email address, profile photo URL, sign-in identifier (UID) When a family member signs in with a Google or Apple account. The parent's phone gets only an anonymous identifier.
Photos and the time each photo was taken When the parent or a family member takes or sends a photo in the app
Where the photo was taken — latitude and longitude, and the place name and address they are converted into At the moment the photo is taken, and only if location permission has been granted on the phone
Photo notes — a one-sentence title and a few sentences of description written by AI from the photo (or a short diary entry about that moment), plus an activity category Automatically, after a photo is uploaded
Information read out of the photo — a list of object names, text inside the photo (signs, menus, and the like), and the number of human faces On iPhone, automatically on the phone itself when the photo is taken (the photo does not leave the phone for this)
Family relationships — who belongs to whose family, roles and link status, the hash of the one-time link code, and consent records When a family is created and the parent's phone is linked
Short messages and replies — short messages left by the family, the parent's replies (a ready-made reply, their own words, or a “Thank you” heart), and the name of the person who left them When a family member leaves a short message on a photo, or the parent replies
Family contacts — the names and phone numbers of family members who should receive updates Only when a family member enters them in settings
Information about the linked phone — device name (for example, iPhone), platform, and the time and status of the link When the parent's phone is linked
Notification information — push token, which kinds of notifications to receive, and notification time settings When a family member allows notifications, and when notifications are allowed on the linked parent's phone (the parent's phone is notified only of photos and messages the family sent)
Subscription information — the plan chosen, subscription status and expiry date, and the transaction identifier issued by the store When a family member subscribes to, or restores, a paid plan in the app. Payment details such as card numbers are handled only by the Apple and Google stores; Daylie never receives them.
App settings — photo-keeping period, text size, home location (if entered manually), and the like When a setting is changed
How the app was installed — the kind of device of the first sign-in (iPhone, Android, web) and which link brought you Once, when a family member first signs in. No advertising identifier and no outside analytics tool is used.
Operational records — when an important action such as a deletion or a link happened, and who performed it When that action is performed

Daylie does not collect resident registration numbers (Korean national ID numbers), does not collect payment details such as card numbers (payments are handled by the Apple and Google stores), and does not use advertising identifiers. There is no field for entering health conditions or diagnoses. We have not included any usage analytics tool or crash-reporting tool.

About location information. Daylie records only the location at the moment a photo is taken, attached to that photo. It does not follow and log the phone's location continuously. Photos are delivered normally even if location permission is not granted; in that case only the time is kept, with no place name. The Places visited (다녀온 곳) screen is drawn on the family member's phone on the spot, by connecting the locations attached to that day's photos; no separate route history is stored.

3. Why we use personal information

We do not use the information for anything beyond the purposes above. If a purpose changes, we will tell you in advance and ask for your consent again.

4. About the AI that writes photo notes

The title of a photo (a single line such as "Lunch with soybean paste stew") and its description are written automatically by AI. The description either records what can be seen, in a few sentences, or is written as a short diary entry about that moment. A diary entry may also include the date and time of day the photo was taken and a rough area name (for example, "October 18, afternoon, in Gangnam"), and only the connected family can see it. Reading information out of a photo and writing the description happen in the two places below.

That photos are sent to Google's AI is stated on the parent's consent screen and on the family's consent screen when registering a parent. The operator does not train AI models on users' photos or writing, and does not send them to any AI provider other than the one named above. If the AI provider changes, we will revise this policy and tell you before we do.

Sentences written by AI can be wrong. A photo note is only an aid to help you recognize a photo quickly; it is not a judgment about health or illness.

5. Processors we entrust with handling data, and disclosure to third parties

Daylie does not sell personal information. In order to run the service, we entrust processing work to the providers below.

Provider Work entrusted
Google LLC (Firebase) Sign-in (Authentication), data storage (Firestore), photo storage (Cloud Storage), notification delivery (Cloud Messaging), website serving (Hosting)
Apple Inc. Sign in with Apple (only if you sign in that way)
Google LLC (Gemini API) Writing photo notes (Section 4)
OpenStreetMap Foundation (Nominatim) Converting the coordinates where a photo was taken into an address and the name of a shop or place, and finding a home address from the search text typed in Settings.
RevenueCat, Inc. Checking the status of paid-plan subscriptions — verifying the subscription receipt from the store (Apple App Store, Google Play) and telling us which plan is in force

For place-name and address lookups we send only coordinates or the address search text. We do not send the photo, a name, an email address, or an account identifier. The lookup is made from the operator's server, so your phone does not connect to these providers directly. For subscription checks, only the account identifier (UID), the kind of device, and the subscription information issued by the store are passed on; payment details never leave the store.

If you tap a map link on a photo, Google Maps or Apple Maps opens, depending on your phone. In that case only that point's coordinates (and the place name) are passed along in the URL; no photo or account information is passed. If you send a link through KakaoTalk, the message is delivered from your own phone through the KakaoTalk app.

Apart from cases where investigative authorities or others require it through lawful process under the law, we do not provide personal information to any third party other than those above.

6. Transfer of personal information abroad

Daylie runs on Google Firebase, so the information above is stored and processed on servers located abroad (in the United States).

To write photo notes, photos are transferred to Google's AI as follows.

To check paid-plan subscriptions, subscription information is transferred as follows.

To find place names and addresses, only coordinates or address search text are transferred abroad, as follows.

This transfer abroad is strictly necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the service), and we are informing you of it through this policy under the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea (개인정보 보호법), Article 28-8(1). You may refuse the transfer abroad, but if you refuse it will be difficult to use the service. If you turn location permission off, no coordinates are recorded, so no photo coordinates are transferred. If you don't search for a home address, no search text is transferred.

7. How long we keep personal information, and how we destroy it

Photos

Photos and the records attached to them are kept until you delete them or delete the account or the parent's records. You can delete a photo yourself in the app at any time.

The app's settings have a Keep photos option with 30 days · 90 days · forever (default 90 days). At present this setting is only stored; photos past the period are not deleted automatically. For now photos are kept until you delete them, as above. If we begin automatic deletion, we will tell you in this policy and inside the app before it starts. Then the photo files past the period and their records (time, location, place name, photo note) would be deleted, and the family would be told the week before (“N photos will be deleted this week”). Messages and replies are not subject to automatic deletion.

Accounts and family records

How we destroy data: electronic files are deleted in a way that cannot be recovered. It can take a short time for data to be removed from backup copies. If there is a record the law requires us to keep, we keep it separately only for the period that law sets and then delete it. Records of paid-plan subscription contracts and payments (plan, subscription start and end, store transaction identifier) are kept for 5 years under Korea's Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and then deleted. Payment details are handled by the stores and are not held by Daylie.

8. Your rights and how to exercise them

You (and the family member acting on a parent's behalf) may exercise the rights below at any time.

If it is hard to do this yourself in the app, let us know at the contact below and we will verify, carry it out, and tell you the result. We will act within 10 days of the day we receive the request.

9. Children under 14

Daylie is not directed at children under 14, and we do not accept sign-ups from children under 14. If we learn that personal information of a child under 14 has come in, we delete it right away.

10. Measures to keep data secure

11. Advertising and selling data

Daylie has no ads. We have not included any ad network or behavioral tracking tool, and we do not sell or rent personal information to other companies.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post what changed and the effective date on this page. If a change is unfavorable to users, we will also give separate notice inside the app before the effective date.
